Visit the Royal Abbey, located in the little town called Fontevraud-l'Abbaye, and plunge into 1000 years of French history!

Founded in 1101 by Robert d'Arbrissel, the Abbey gained prestige thanks to the Plantagenets dynasty: Henry II, King of England, his wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine, previously Queen of France, and also their son Richard the Lionheart, who made the Abbey of Fontevraud a royal burial place. The Abbey of Fontevraud was then converted into prison under Napoleon from 1804 to 1963, then in 2000 listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and today combines heritage, living spaces, and contemporary artistic creation.

During your visit to this exceptional site, you can enjoy a meal at a Michelin-starred restaurant (at your own expense) set around the cloisters in a peaceful atmosphere.

    Parfait je regrette simplement que les petits chiens portés en sac ne puissent venir avec nous. Cela réduit le nombre de visiteur pour vous car un de nous est de garde

    Matkusti puolison kanssa

    Wir haben ganz einfach online die Karten gekauft, das klappt bei allen Anbietern eigentlich immer gut. In Fontevraud schaute die junge Frau an der Rezeption verblüfft, als käme ihr alles komisch vor, sie hat eigenartigerweise den Code nicht gescannt. Aber sie ließ uns ein. Ist uns so noch nicht passiert. Hauptsache war aber, es hat geklappt.
