Discover the secrets of the Parisian landmark that everyone knows but few people experience: the Arc de Triomphe.

The world’s second-largest triumphal arch (at 51m) was commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte аnd completed in the 1830s to commemorate French soldiers who fought during the Napoleonic Wars. It is located at the western end of the exclusive Avenue des Champs-Elysees, known for its shops, restaurants, and hotels.

Though walking around the arch is free, access to the museum and the impressive viewing terrace requires a ticket.

Møtepunkt:
The Arc de Triomphe is located on Place Charles de Gaulle. Metro stop: Kléber (line 6), Georges V (line 1), or Charles de Gaulle Etoile (line 1, 2, 6). Do not stand in line at the ticket office! Go straight to the security check and then present your ticket at the stairs.

Not allowed:

  • Selfie sticks, tripods, motorcycle helmets, scooters, rollerblades, sharp objects, and glass bottles are PROHIBITED inside the monument
  • Strollers are prohibited inside the monument and there are no lockers. However, it is possible to drop off the stroller at the access control agents and pick it up at the end of your visit

Know in advance:

  • The e-ticket gives access to an unguided tour of the monument
  • Free admission for children under 18, EU citizens (18-25), disabled people and companion, French unemployed people, Pass Education holders
  • Free admission for all visitors on the 1st Sunday of each month from November to March and on the European Heritage Days (the third weekend of September)
  • Opening hours are from 11.00 am to 11.00 pm (April 1st to Sept 30th) and 11.00 am to 10.30 pm (October 1st to March 31st)
  • The monument is closed on 1st January, 1st May, and 25th December and opens at 3.00 pm on 8th May, 14th July, 11th November
  • There are 284 steps to climb. Elevators are available for visitors upon request
  • Maximum luggage allowed: 40x40x20cm. No lockers on site
  • The Arc de Triomphe is equipped with two elevators allowing exclusively people with reduced mobility to reach the upper parts. Access to the platform must be done using a motorized vehicle in order to reach a "quick stop" parking area located on the Avenue de la Grande Armée side. People with disabilities have priority access to the ticket office and the entrance to the monument. They must have a ticket (free on presentation of proof), to be collected at the ticket office located in the basement. Reception agents are available to facilitate access.

    Unfassbare Sauerei, denn mein Kind ist erkrankt und ich habe rechtzeitig Bescheid gegeben und nicht ein bisschen Kulanz entgegen gebracht bekommen. Ich mußte die Karten voll zahlen, obwohl wir sie nicht nutzen konnten. Nicht aus bösen Willen oder geänderten Plänen, sondern weil mein Kind aufgrund der Hitze (39°C) zusammen geklappt ist und ich habe dies mitgeteilt 1Tag vorher und habe die Karten nicht zurück erstattet bekommen. Bodenlose Frechheit!!!!

    Schade ist, dass es oft lange Warteschlangen gibt vorm Eingang/Sicherheitscheck - mehrere solcher Stationen würde die Warteschlangen reduzieren. Ansonsten super, der Aufgang kurzweilig mit Stationen, Schautafeln, Shop und super Ausblick oben von der Terrasse! Der Ausflug hat sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt!

    Tui verkoopt kaartjes, maar bij aankomst blijkt dat het monument niet eens open is. Dit was dinsdag 6 mei 2025. Weggegooid geld, en bedankt Tui.
