Mitä kaikkea voit tehdä kohteessa Palacio Real de Madrid
Palacio Real de Madrid eli Madridin kuninkaanlinna on Espanjan kuninkaallisen perheen virallinen asuinpaikka, mutta sitä käytetään nykyisin pelkästään vastaanottoja, seremonioita ja virallisia tilaisuuksia varten. Nykyään Espanjan kuningas ja kuningatar asuvat Zarzuelan palatsissa, joka sijaitsee Espanjan pääkaupungin laitamilla.
Kuninkaanlinna sijaitsee Madridin keskiaikaisen Alcazar-linnoituksen paikalla, jonka Johannes II, Kaarle V ja Filip II muuttivat ylelliseksi palatsiksi. Alcazar tuhoutui tulipalossa jouluaattona vuonna 1734.
Palacio Real de Madridin rakentaminen alkoi vuonna 1738 ja se valmistui vuonna 1764, jolloin Kaarle III päätti asettua sinne. Se tunnetaan myös nimellä Palacio de Oriente, ja sitä ympäröivät Campo del Moron ja Sabatinin puutarhat. Rakennus on saanut vaikutteita Berninin Pariisin Louvren rakentamista varten tekemistä luonnoksista, ja se on rakennettu neliönmuotoisen sisäpihan ympärille.
Euroopan suurimmassa kuninkaanlinnassa on 3 400 ylellistä huonetta, ja vierailu siellä on elämys itsessään. Valtaistuinsalissa on säilynyt Kaarle III:n valtakauden aikainen sisustus. Siellä on muun muassa Tiepolon vaikuttava fresko, joka osoittaa monarkian suuruuden. Myös palatsin asekokoelma hakee vertaistaan. Salón de Gasparinin (huone, jossa kuningas pukeutui) tärkeimpiä nähtävyyksiä ovat kattokruunu ja koristeellinen kello. Muita tärkeitä huoneita ovat Salón de Columnas (pylväiden sali), Real Cocina (kuninkaallinen keittiö), Salón del Trono ja Capilla Real (kuninkaallinen kappeli).
Joka keskiviikko ja lauantai kello 11.00-14.00, syyskuun puolivälistä heinäkuun puoliväliin, suoritetaan kuninkaanlinnan vartijan vaihto. Kesäkuukausina kellonajat ovat klo 10.00-12.00.
Rakennuksessa voi vierailla käytännössä ympäri vuoden, sillä se on suljettu vain virallisten seremonioiden ja juhlallisuuksien aikana.
